Cedric Michael Cox is best known for his paintings and drawings that merge surrealism and representational abstraction. Cox’s paintings catapult color into rhythmic action with abstract and recognizable images that create compositions inspired by themes in music and the natural world. 

He received his BFA in painting at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP). Cox has exhibited regionally and nationally in museums and galleries in Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton, OH; Brooklyn, NY; Chicago, IL and Sedona, AZ. In 2021, he completed a series of 64 paintings for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, as well as a collection of paintings for the lobby of the Kenley Hotel in Cincinnati, OH. Throughout his career, Cox’s work has been featured in books, magazines, and on television.
