Joanne Edwards was born in the Chicago area, with her formative art training beginning after relocating to attend the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 1984. 

Her early works were inspired by Mary Cassatt with numerous portrait commissions. She won a first year scholarship from the Academy, graduating with a BFA in 1993

magna cum laude and class valedictorian. She concentrated on impressionist painting from studies of Monet, Van Gogh and Matisse. Her paintings traveled for several years with the Cinergy collection. Edwards also has works on display at Senator DeWine’s offices in Cincinnati, held in many private collections and exhibited in numerous solo and group shows. 

She recently moved to Lake Waynoka in Sardinia, painting in plein air.
