Wood and acrylic paint. . .  Outside dimensions: 17 1/4" x 17 1/4"

Mike Enzweiler has a BFA (painting) from Northern Kentucky University. He has had a career surrounded in the arts: teaching high school art, being a curatorial assistant for the  Print, Drawing and Photography Dept. for the Cincinnati Art Museum, and a director for the Bishop Brossart H.S. Art Gallery, as well as director of the Enzweiler Building Institute.
The idea of excess waste being not just recycled, but could also be re-purposed or up-cycled has influenced his artwork. He states that he seldom purchases new materials for his art pieces.  Only if absolutely needed will he purchase fasteners (nails, screws); instead most often employing used nails/screws and even buying "mis-mixed" paint from local paint retailers.  The storehouse for these used materials is a friend’s barn.
As witnessed by much of his artwork, the barn itself has  influenced the look of what he creates.
He says: "I continue to make pieces beyond the barn shape and those are also guided by the materials that I have saved from the landfills."
