Summer flowers/butterflies at the Park Hills trolley stop. Oil on canvas. Outside dimensions: 14"wide x 17" high.

Fran Hemmer paints with oil on canvas, and likes to capture the play of light and contrast of soft and sharp edges on natural objects. Influenced mainly by a combination of both Impressionistic and Traditional styles, she pays tribute to John Singer Sargent and Frank Duveneck. She enjoys painting dramatic light and forms in a variety of settings including gardens, parks, water reflections, flower arrangements and human forms.

Hemmer earned a BA in Urban Planning, an Architectural degree from UC’s College of Applied Science, and has studied Graphic Design at NKU. She is a signature member of the Woman’s Art Club of Cincinnati, and member of Friends of Baker Hunt, Covington. She was an art educator for Ludlow Schools as part of a state grant, and initiated the volunteer art appreciation programs at St. Joseph school, Crescent Springs and Notre Dame Urban Education.
