Outer dimensions: 24"x24"; Acrylic on canvas
"I find endless fascination in the fluid movement of water & the ever-shifting clouds in the sky. "Cloud Movement" was inspired by a moment looking out the window of a plane, watching as the clouds drifted and opened to reveal glimpses of color and land below.
I interpret this joy through my abstract paintings. I work with the canvas laid horizontally, allowing me to build up layers of opaque & translucent colors that overlap, shift & interact -- much like the elements that inspired them."
Bio: Marcia McMillen is an abstract painter working in acrylics. Marcia states: “in many ways, my work is a subjective response to nature. Though the paintings are non-representational, they stem from my time spent outside of my urban living environment, observing and responding to natural phenomena.” Specifically, Marcia’s artist-in-residence experiences at Fire Island National Seashore and Lakeside Studio on the shore of Lake Michigan provided her with the opportunity to explore and contemplate this influence. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
