Outer Dimensions: 21 1/4" h x 17 1/4" w
Medium: Watercolor
Description: "Adrift on Prisoners Lake" sounds like the title of an Elmore Leonard western novel but it's, actually, the title of a watercolor painting by me, Tom Gaither. I sat on a guardrail on the dam with a watercolor sheet, pencil and vertigo. It became obvious that if I didn't take the drawing back to the studio to work on it, the kit, caboodle and I would all end-up in the drink. I like the painting, I think it portrays the "adrift" thing I was trying for, but if I had been in finer fettle I might have redone it to give me a choice of paintings to offer. If you also like the painting and if you have the winning bid, come to the gallery and I'll include a set of 3 riverboat prints to help you celebrate this year's return of Tall Stacks.

Bio: Tom began his career with pen-and-ink illustrations. He still enjoys drawings, but his favorite medium is watercolor. "Watercolor does so much on its own that there is a ragged line between artistic control and a natural paint/water flow. It is still fun for me to watch it happen." He has successfully mixed the two mediums to produce art reproductions as organizational fundraisers.
Gaither's works hang in museums, and private, public, & corporate collections nationally. He says, "if you do anything long enough, some of it sticks."
